I’m Rudy Galan. I’ve worked high-volume hotel bars in San Antonio since 2012, across seven-plus properties. The mechanics of the job are simple. The room is the education: every night is a long, live read on how people talk, negotiate, and decide.

I took 150-plus college credits across biology, physics, and economics, then stopped on purpose. I’d rather learn by doing real projects where the results can be checked. In 2020 I lost $17,000 in the stock market, and that loss is why I learned to invest properly.

The thread through everything here is one question: how do you make good decisions when you can’t know how they’ll turn out?

What I’m working toward

Owner’s rep and project management work in energy, data centers, and large-scale infrastructure. An owner’s rep has one job: protect the owner’s money, schedule, and interests when everyone else on the project has their own. I’m studying for the CAPM and Oracle Primavera P6.

How I’d work on your project:

• Start from the base rate. How do projects like this usually go over budget and late? Plan for that, not the brochure.
• Every dollar has a line. Budget, contingency, and change orders tracked in the open, not reconciled at the end.
• Grade decisions, not outcomes. Write down why we chose what we chose, so the next call is better whether or not this one got lucky.
• Say the hard thing early. Bad news gets cheaper the sooner the owner hears it.
